How ScribeShark handles your data
This notice describes the behavior of the ScribeShark application. It does not make claims about legal certifications or guarantees beyond what the service implements.
Uploaded audio and transcription
Your audio file is uploaded only for transcription and processed on the ScribeShark server. The transcription engine analyzes the recording, identifies its spoken language, and produces text. No account is required.
File storage and retention
Each accepted upload is temporarily written to a job-specific directory while transcription runs. Your audio file is uploaded only for transcription and deleted after processing. ScribeShark does not retain the uploaded audio afterward. Successful transcript files are deleted after 3600 seconds. The web result remains available for 3600 seconds after processing finishes. Job recovery is held in application memory, so a service restart can make the result unavailable sooner.
Access cookies
ScribeShark sets an HTTP-only cookie named scribeshark_session. It associates your browser session with the private job URL so another session cannot retrieve that job merely by knowing its identifier. The cookie expires after 24 hours.
Security checks, analytics, and errors
When Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled, the security challenge is verified with Cloudflare before an upload is accepted. Google Analytics may be loaded when the operator configures it, and Cloudflare may provide traffic analytics at the network edge. These services may process request and browser information under their own terms.
When Sentry error monitoring is configured, application errors and diagnostic context may be sent to Sentry. ScribeShark application logs include job identifiers, filenames, file sizes, durations, and failures; transcript text, audio contents, cookies, and Turnstile tokens are not intentionally written to those logs.
