How audio transcription works
- Upload audio. Select a supported audio file up to 30 MB. The file is checked before it enters the transcription queue.
- Follow the transcription. ScribeShark processes the recording on its server, automatically identifies the spoken language, and shows queue and transcription progress.
- Use the text. Read the transcript as it appears, then copy the completed text for your notes, documents, or other work.
Supported audio formats
ScribeShark accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC, and audio-only WebM files. Each upload is checked for a supported filename, media type, file size, and a real audio stream. The current maximum upload size is 30 MB.
Common uses
Turn interviews, meetings, lectures, podcast recordings, and voice notes into editable text. The result can provide a practical starting point for summaries, show notes, research notes, or searchable records. Always review names, specialist terms, and important quotations against the original recording.
Privacy and retention
Transcription happens on the ScribeShark server, not in your browser. No account is required; an HTTP-only session cookie restricts access to your private job URL. Your audio file is uploaded only for transcription and deleted after processing. ScribeShark does not retain the uploaded audio afterward. Successful transcript files are deleted after 3600 seconds. The browser can recover an active or completed job only while its in-memory result remains available, for 3600 seconds after processing finishes.

Your audio file is uploaded only for transcription and deleted after processing. ScribeShark does not retain the uploaded audio afterward. Successful transcript files are deleted after 3600 seconds.
How long is the transcript available?
The web result remains available for 3600 seconds after the job completes. It may be lost sooner if the service restarts because job recovery is process-local.
